Karamoja is a region endowed with national parks, game reserves, beautiful mountain scenery, beautiful culture and people. It's an area in north-eastern Uganda bordering Kenya in the east, South-Sudan in the north, Acholi and Lango Sub-regions in the west and Teso sub-region in the south. Karamoja's climate is semi-arid in nature characterised by low rainfall amounts and much sunshine. Karamoja experiences both dry and wet seasons. The wet season starts in March up to september of the same year while the dry season starts in October up to February of the next year.
The region covers an area of 27,528 km2. Karamoja comprises of Karenga district, Kaabong district, Kotido district, Abim district, Moroto district, Napak district, Amudat district, Nabilatuk district and Nakapiripirit district.
Karamoja is home to many tourist attractions in Uganda. These include Kidepo Valley National Game park, Bokora Game Reserve, Matheniko Game Reserve, and Pian-upe Game Reserve.

The road from Moroto-Napak-Katakwi-Soroti is tarmacked. Equally the road connecting Nakapiripirit to Moroto is tarmacked and from Nakapiripirit to Sironko and Mbale is still under construction. The rest of Karamoja's roads are not tarmacked and are just seasonal roads constructed from murrum.
Pian-upe game reserve is found in the southern part of Karamoja. It still doesn't have accommodations but investors are still constructing luxury tourist accommodations .
The karamoja museum is nearing completion in 2026 and will have a lot of artifacts and cultural attire for viewing.
