The most common events in Karamoja are the annual Karamoja cultural event which takes place around 3th-8th of september, initiation rites commonly known as "nyathapan", marriage events which include "nyebole" and "nyekuutan".

In 2025, the Karamoja cultural event (KCE) was conducted at Nakapiripirit. In 2026, it will be held at Moroto at Moroto boma ground and becomes the eleventh edition of the cultural celebration. The event attracts alot of Ateker people from within the region, outside the region and from other parts of the world. Ateker people includes the karimojong, the turkana in kenya, the Nyangatom of ethiopia, the Iteso, the Toposa of south sudan.The event also tends to attract other Ugandans and tourists from several parts of the world.

The cultural event for 2026 will take place between the 6th and the 12th. The selected venue is Moroto boma grounds. More details will be available soon.
